First up, the Princess of Pop Britney Spears built a lot of hype around the release of the music video supporting her new song "Hold It Against Me", the first single off her upcoming seventh studio album, "Femme Fatale". The pop singer released a short 5 to 10 second teaser trailer every day for two weeks to build excitement for the anticipated project. When the video finally premiered last night, February 17th, it was aided by MTV and Vevo. My thoughts for the video are split in half. I think that the video will go down as one of Britney's best, along with "Toxic" and "Circus", but I do not think it was worth all the hype. The video does not go with the song at all, some people may have a problem with that, and it just was not anything too amazing. I will admit that I love the use of splattered colored paint, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" inspired lip sequence and the fight scene that occurs halfway through, but I think the singer could have done much better. The video is very artsy and I applaud it for being original, but I do have a problem with Britney's dance scenes, it just does not seem like she is really trying, such a shame. Spears' career is where it should be, she is back on top, and this video will help continue her great success, it just is not one of my favorites. So with the teasers and news surrounding the music video for "Hold It Against Me", how was it in your opinion?
I have been posting many things regarding lead Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger, recently, but I feel she is starting to get her solo career in order, hoping her album finally comes out. I have posted the video to her first official single "Poison", and I have heard her leaked tracks, "Killer Love", "Cold", "Club Banger Nation", and "Guns & Roses", all are amazing. A few days ago she released the music video to her first U.S. single off her upcoming album. "Don't Hold Your Breath" is a beautiful ballad-type pop track that shows off the singer's vocal talent, which she has plenty of. The video supporting the track is a very simple piece, which I think was the right way to go. There is not much going on in the three minutes clip, so I feel it allows the viewer to really see the pain that Scherzinger is going though. We see the artist inside a taxi, inside an empty house, and singing in front of a mirror, that is basically it. The song represents that a great performance does not need an expensive, over the top music video to show real talent. I love the song, I love the video, and I am still supporting Scherzinger's future solo career. Take a look at "Don't Hold Your Breath".
Last but not least, iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove has dipped her feet in the music industry with the release of her first album in April 2010. Now the artist is back with a new single, "Dancing Crazy", an upcoming five track EP, and an ongoing tour. The video for her new single can only be summed up as a carefree, fun, cute interpretation of the sing's lyrics. The song is pop, the video is as well, but I think it is showcasing the development of Cosgrove as an actual artist. Some will say that it is too clean for their liking, but I like the fact that the star is not rushing to grow up like others out there now. The video is nothing extraordinary or new, just your typical, out on the town, love story video, but I think it works with the artist's personality and career path at the moment. Cosgrove's fan base consist of kids of a very young age, but I think as time goes on she can really relate to all age groups, be a big pop artist one day. I am a fan of Cosgrove, her album received a good review here on my blog, and I actually like the song and video to "Dancing Crazy", what do you think?
