Museum offering vintage portraits for holiday season

The Museum of the Coastal Bend is offering an opportunity for museum members and nonmembers to have vintage portraits taken by photographer and ambrotype artist Cody Mobley from 1 to 7 p.m. Nov. 20

“These photos would make great Christmas gifts,” said Sue Prudhomme, VC cultural affairs executive director. “We will have clothing and props available. If you want, you can dress up in vintage clothing and take a photo just like your ancestors.”

An ambrotype print, made using the authentic wet collodion glass-plate process, will cost $45 for museum members and $50 for nonmembers.

Mobley travels throughout Texas and the United States demonstrating the collodion process, which was first used in 1851 and was the first commercially viable form of photography.Advance reservations are required to guarantee photo appointments. Sittings will be scheduled on the quarter hour. Call 361-582-2434 to reserve a sitting or to get more information. The Museum of the Coastal Bend is on Victoria College’s Main Campus, 2200 E. Red River St.
