Far and near

Two views from our table at the outside patio of the restaurant at Pentland Plants, where I enjoyed a very substantial haggis and cheddar cheese panini, followed by lemon cheesecake and black coffee, while the sun beat down on us from a cloudless sky and I realised that Spring was really here. The rather odd sight of cattle way up on the summit of that nearest hill, the melody of birdsong, and the tiny flying, crawling, complexity of the ladybird that settled for a wander through the hairs on the back of my hand, before I led it onto a nearby leaf, gave me one of those rare moments when everything felt just right.
