WW2 2pdr ATG, FOO, Civilians and Terrain, West Wind Campaign .

The 2pdr ATG is from Warlord Miniatures. This is a great little model that I have just completed for my Brits along with a couple of extra crew from the plastic infantry sprue and the chap with the binoculars is from the FOO set.

Again from Warlord Miniatures is their FOO (forward observation officer) set. Excuse the slight sheen on these and the ATG crew as I was in a rush and so they have only had a quick spray varnish. I will give them a good brush of matt varnish (Daler- Rowney) at some point in the future.

These miniatures are from Dixon Miniatures civilian pack. They have a few other packs in their Gangster and WW2 range. They are not cheap but they are nice little sculpts and match up fine with Warlord and Foundry in size..

Some pieces of terrain that I purchased from one of the shows a couple of years ago and finally got around to painting. These painted up really quick with just a base colour, wash and then a dry brush over a few of the pieces.

Dave Green is coming around my place this Saturday night and we are starting our Chain of Command 'At The Sharp End' Campaign. This is the West Wind Campaign set in Konigsberg, East Prussia, in January 1945. (The full details of this campaign is published in the Too Fat Lardies Summer Special 2014)

The first scenario in the campaign is 'Probe at Moditten' and so I have set the table up based on the map in the campaign with a crossroads at a small hamlet.

The buildings I have used are mostly from my Medieval and Dark Ages collection. I don't have any Russian/Prussian buildings so I thought these would do at a push for peasant type buildings of the period by using things like oil drums, corrugated iron sheets, barbed wire and telegraph poles to bring them more up to date.

The Russians will be deploying around the hamlet and trying to prevent the Germans from exiting off this side of the table.

These are a couple of '4GROUND ' laser cut buildings that I had but I found them a little to bright and clean for my taste, so I darkened the thatch and dirtied the walls up to tone them down a little.

The Germans will be approaching from this end of the table. On the map there is a sandpit in the right hand corner which I have tried to replicate.

The civilians start to evacuate their homes as the Russians begin to arrive.

I will attempt to keep you posted with the running of the campaign and after action reports.

Cheers,

Pat.
